We believe that:
If EMS agencies have a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC), the quality of care children receive in the prehospital setting will be better, and children will have better outcomes. This project will test that belief, and lead to information about how EMS can do their best work when caring for children.

Simulations are Underway

In Connecticut, EMS agency simulations have begun. Using the ACEP SimBox EMS tools, we are training PECCs and EMS trainers to conduct simulations and improve the prehospital care of children. Check out ACEPSim.com to find the materials to conduct the simulations.

FAMILY EMS satisfaction instrument development underway

Family Action Network members, EMS providers, and PECCs are completing a Delphi-Style process to create a tool we'll use to assess family satisfaction with pediatric EMS care.

Branford Fire Department, Branford CT
Branford Fire was the first agency in New Haven County to designate a PECC. We welcome John Cudgma Jr. to the role, and look forward to collaborating over the years.
Upper Pine River Fire Protection District, Colorado
The Upper Pine River Fire Protection District provides all-risk fire, rescue and emergency medical services to 265 square miles of eastern La Plata County, southwest Colorado, not far from the Four Corners of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. Upper Pine River's participation in the project is key for understanding pediatric EMS care in a rural setting.
